Let’s celebrate  Hungarian Poetry together on April 11!

„Embers of wood in fire I’d be–
Soft moss on stones in ponds I’d be–
Swaying poplar in wind I’d be–
On Earth my father’s son I’d be–”

/Sándor Weöres: The four elements (English);

translated by Makkai Ádám; Morse, Donald E./

In Hungary, April 11 is celebrated as the Day of Hungarian Poetry, held in honor of the birthday of one of the country’s most renowned poets, Attila József.

To mark the occasion, this year, the ’Rhyme Bush’ has once again blossomed in front of the library. Here, visitors can not only read poems in Hungarian, but also discover works by Sándor Petőfi and János Arany in English translation.

On our recommendation shelf, our librarians are presenting their favorite poems, and the related poetry volumes are available for borrowing.

Free bookmarks are also available at the information desk.

We warmly welcome everyone!
